If there’s one thing Bobby Mahler
can’t stand, it’s being second. He was
the first to offer intrastate long
distance service to residential
customers in Texas in 1976. He broadened
the potential for competition in 1985 in
Texas by introducing the sale of the
first fiber optic based
telecommunications services. Mr. Mahler
was one of first to provide bundled
local, long distance and Internet access
services to residential consumers via
the Internet in 1997 with US DialTone.
Mahler has been instrumental in the
success of several companies by
consistently predicted trends in the
telecommunications industry. He
co-founded Long Distance Services in
1976, providing long distance service
between major Texas cities before anyone
else. Mahler continued industry
innovations in 1984 with the creation of
Fiberline, Inc., the first company in
the state to offer low-cost fiber optic
lines. Mahler’s accomplishments also
include the creation of Data Masters,
Inc. in 1987 to provide billing and
collection services to the long distance
industry. In 1991, Mr. Mahler co-founded
TelePlus, Inc. a long distance reseller
in Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri. In 1994
Mr. Mahler saw an opportunity to be the
1st U.S. Company to market into Mexico
for collect calling from Mexico back to
the USA for the American tourist. By
1995 TelePlus was generating over $2
million per month in collect calls from
Mexico back to the USA.
As well as founding managing his own
companies, Mr. Mahler has held upper
management positions with several large
national telecommunications providers.
He was Western Regional Director of
Sales for Talk America (NASDAQ:TALK)
from 2002 to 2003. In October of 2003,
Mr. Mahler was hired by VarTec Telecom
as Sr. Vice President of Sales

Ron has a strong belief that truly
successful business ventures occur when
you mix expertise, work ethic,
opportunity and, most importantly…INTEGRITY. Ron and Bobby started
working together over 20 years
ago…BriteRain marks their third venture
together. Ron has over 27 years
experience in the telecom and technology
sectors…20 of which have been at
privately held companies…7 at SBC and
AT&T. His entrepreneurial experience allows him to easily relate to the needs
of an independent agent with little
supporting infrastructure. Conversely,
his 15 years of experience as the COO of
VarTec Telecom positions him to know how
to get things done on a large scale and
in short order.
At VarTec Telecom, Ron saw the
opportunity to capitalize on an idea he
had back in 1984…that being to exploit
the potential of equal access. Beginning
in 1990, Ron oversaw the entire
marketing program which catapulted
VarTec to become the nation’s largest
and most successful Dial Around carrier. This program grew to such scale that it
was, at peak, generating a billion
dollars of annualized revenue with over
$200 million in EBITDA…all driven by a
direct marketing program delivering
almost a billion consumer impressions
per year. While at VarTec, Ron was also
responsible for driving the development
and deployment of its agent
program…hence, the name VAR-Tec (“value
added reseller”)…again, helping him to
understand the power of a successful
agent program. Ron also spearheaded the
launch of VarTec’s local initiative
which quickly grew to over 300,000
bundled local, long distance, and
broadband service lines.
But Ron’s experience doesn’t stop at
marketing and sales.
He was responsible for VarTec’s global network,
comprised of 27 switches in the USA and
3 in Western Europe.
Through added leadership
in IT,
Billing, and Customer Service
Ron
understands customers’ requirements
beginning at product development,
through provisioning, billing, and
effective customer service. Prior to
VarTec, Ron held the position of SVP –
Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service
at ClayDesta Communications founded
right in the frenzy of 1984’s break up
of the Bell Companies.
Ron graduated cum laude from Abilene
Christian University in 1973 and was
salutatorian of his high school class.
